I'm part of a group blog in the Rochester, NY area called RochesterTurning.com. We focus mainly on local politics, and have been around for about 7 months. We have a decent local readership which includes, at times, the editor of the main local paper (the Democrat and Chronicle), the station manager for the ABC TV affiliate, various reporters, and local progressives.
People seem to like us-- we got voted best political blog in 2006 by the local alternative newsweekly, and frequently receive emails or in-person kudos. We do a decent job, but of course we can't take all the credit-- we're filling a void, and like when Air America comes to a station near you, even muddy water's an oasis in the desert.
Let me tell you a couple things we're doing, and then I'd LOVE to hear what great local blogging you've heard of/are involved in.
